We invite you to help raise awareness for  International Button Battery Awareness Day which will be held on 12th of June 2024

The aim of this initiative is to spread further awareness about the dangers of button batteries among schools, parents, caregivers and childhood educators through the delivery of an educational program designed for early childhood and primary school aged children.

Through the promotion of International Button Battery Awareness Day, it is our hope that together we can ensure all schools, early childhood centres, homes and workplaces are button battery safe.

While Bella's Footprints has made a significant difference in raising awareness and campaigning for changes to button battery safety Laws in Australia there is still more education and awareness that needs to be done.

In the month of June, we invite you to get involved with International Button Battery Awareness, by helping to:

  • Educate families and caregivers about the dangers of button batteries;
  • Encourage families and businesses to check their homes and workplaces to identify items which may contain button batteries;
  • Ensure families and business to check that all items containing button batteries are safely secured by a screw;
  • Educate the community about the safe disposal and storage of batteries.

How can you help?

To honour the memory of those children who have passed away or been seriously injured by button batteries, we encourage individuals and businesses to:

  • Deliver an educational activity within your workplace, school or childcare setting to educate others on the dangers of button batteries. Share photos of your activity with Bella's Footprints via social media using #BUTTONBATTERYAWARENESS

  • Host a fundraising event which will go towards spreading further awareness within the community and supporting families affected by a button battery injury. Some ideas could include a sausage Sizzle, gold coin donation, casual clothing day, raffle, morning tea etc.

Who should get involved?

  • Playgroups and Childcare centers
  • Sporting club and associations
  • Community centers
  • Church's
